Permanently swollen ankle 3 years after a bad break. are there ways to reverse it? (if compression, how do i identify a good wrap/bandage/sock?)

Swelling: If the swelling is pitting, which means it leaves a depression in the skin when you press your finger into it, it can be managed with high voltage electrical stimulation and a mild compression stocking. If it is brawny (hard under the skin) ir will not respond to any therapy 3 years down the road.

Possibly: I would need to know if the swelling is pitting in nature. This means that when you press your finger into the swollen area it leaves an indentation. Does the swelling tend to go away over night? Was the ankle wrapped in a soft cast (unna boot) and what was the result. Were surgical stockings tried. If it works it's good.
