Buckwheat honey: Buckwheat honey has been shown to decrease cough significantly, more than dextromethorphan, which is the active ingredient in all over the counter cough medicines. In my experience, raw honey can be helpful too. Generic supermarket honey (bear jar etc) is worthless. If, however, the problem is asthma, honey won't help. In that case, see your doctor.
