See your dentist: There are many reasons for bumps in the back of the tongue: irritated taste buds, fungal or bacteria infection, lichen planus, pemphigus or pemphigoid. Please see your dentist for an evaluation. Most patients do fine!

Inflamed papilla: The tongue is made up of several different types of papilla. Some are in the back and although they look "strange" they are not pathologic. Any of the different types of papilla can become inflamed and enlarged.
