See your PCP: Unless you are having emergency or urgent problems such as unrelenting severe upper abdominal pain with vomiting & inablity to eat, see your regular doctor. Avoid fried, fatty & greasy foods. I agree with dr. Murray that yellow jaundice is an emergency gallstone problem.

Pain: Stones can cause other problems besides abdominal pain. If a stone gets out of gallbladder and lodges in main bile duct this could cause severe pancreatitis or jaundice. If you are otherwise healthy and having gallbladder symptoms would advise having an elective, outpatient gallbladder operation rather than waiting for an emergent one.

Risk of gallstones: Gallstones can remain asymptomatic or cause gallbladder infection, obstruction of pancreas and/or liver. The last two can be life-threatening. Surgeons and docs recommend gallbladder removal when the stones are diagnosed and the patient is symptomatic, with bloating, belching, pain. The risk/benefit analysis favors laprascopic cholecystectomy. Er if fever vomiting. Surgery consult otherwise.
