Yes, not common: Ulcers of stomach or duodenum causing bright red rectal bleeding are major bleeds. Patients are shocky. Most brb per rectum is from anal, rectal, left colon sources.

Rectum: Rectal ulcers can cause bright red blood on stool. More common cause would be internal hemorrhoids.
