Often: The gallbladder is signaled to squeeze bile into the intestine anytime a meal enters the stomach particularly large fatty meals. In order to determine the health of the gallbladder a hida scan will often be order to determine how well the gallbladder responds to that signal. Generally, if the gallbladder can squeeze greater than 35% of its content, it is considered healthy.
