What causes protein factors to become abnormal?

I'm assuming blood-: Rheumatoid factor and many self-directed antibodies are abnormal. Very high levels of gammaglobulins can indicate both inflammation of cancer (myeloma). We do not understand most triggers for abormal proteins! more important at present, to understand what they mean!
