TLC: Treat the area gently, rinse gently with warm salt water, do not drink alcohol, smoke, or disturb the surgical site. I would switch to a soft diet for the first few days. I would take multivitamins and get plenty of rest.

Chlorhexidine rinses: 60 seconds of Chlorhexidine rinses (.12%) 2 times per day. Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) is one brand. Need a prescription. Listerine isn't bad if you can't get chlorhexidine.

Keeping: Keeping the surgical site clean is the key to healing well. A mouth rinse like Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) will help keep the bacteria count down and promote healing. Also keep away from alcohol and smoking. Smoking especially has been shown to prolong healing times.
