4-6 months: The aap recommends solids being started by spoon no earlier than 4 months. I know of 2 exceptions. Some experts recommend cereal to thicken the milk for babies with acid reflux disease ( gerd ). And rarely some babies who are being fed too much formula seem to benefit from cereal earlier. Very, very few babies need cereal to sleep thru the night! that thought is generally and old wive's tale.
