Nerve injury: The most likely diagnosis is local nerve injury of a spinal nerve disorder. An examination via MRI can rule out a spinal issue.

Neuritis: Sounds like neuritis which is inflammation of the nerve. It can be localized or be referred from your lower back. Sounds like you need to see a neurologist. Nerve entrapments and injuries do better when treated early.
