Depends: There are many "normal" positions for the uterus. Sideways is not one of them, and may be due fibroids , adhesions or other conditions which pull or push the uterus out of its normal anatomic positions. Ask your md what he means by "sideways" . A sonogram may be helpful with the diagnosis.
