Possibly: Whitening your teeth should not be a high priority if you have cavities or exposed nerves. You should first have your teeth checked, cleaned by an oral hygienist or dentist, and cavities repaired prior to having your teeth whitened. In certain circumstances, it would be best if you whitened your teeth first if you have small cavities in front teeth, then the fillings can match the new tooth color.

Probably: Exposed dentin can react very negatively to whitening solutions. You should always see your dentist for an exam before you start any whitening procedures.
