IT band: Very unsusual to have a damaged it band. It can be chronically inflamed. First try stretching, nsaids drugs or a cortisone injection. If you still have pain get an MRI to determine the exact pathology and then discuss with an orthopedic surgeon.

ITB: The best approach to itb injury is physical therapy with it stretching, modalities and styrofoam rolling. It is very rare that surgery is needed.
