Neurogenic bowel: He needs to be treated urgently for this. After he is disimpacted a maintenance bowel program often using stool softeners, laxatives, and digital stimulation will be required. It appears that he will also need a bladder catheterization program. Take him to a physiatrist who specializes in spinal cord injuries as soon as possible. What level was the injury? Does your brother have quadriplegia?
