Hormones: During the first trimester there are a lot of extra hormones around. Some of those can cause you to be tired. If you feel particularly tired, you should ask to have your thyroid checked by your ob. Feel free to take naps if you can.

Low blood: Early in pregnancy the vascular system rapidly expands. This dilutes your red blood cells which carry oxygen. It is similar to having a form of anemia. It takes a while for your body to catch up. It is worse if you are anemic to begin with.
