A member asked:

What pain medication most effectively treats transverse myelitis? are neurontin, (gabapentin) morph, perco, dilauded effective in treating transverse myelitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lyrica (pregabalin): The drug Lyrica (pregabalin) was recently approve to treat the pain of spinal cord trauma, and likely would help in transverse myelitis also. One approach, using an analgesic, might be a Butrans patch, or tramadol er, so discuss with your doctor and see what might be of value. Also, is the transverse myelitis a problem secondary to an underlying disease or just an isolated event?
