Pain, itch, rash: Initially pain and/or itching occurs then with the development of a blister-like rash following the distribution of the sensory nerve where the reactivation occurs. Sometimes the rash is the first thing noted. Rarely the pain/itching occurs without a rash (zoster sine zoster).
