Inflamed/Infected: Lymph nodes are the body's "army barracks" preparing or fighting a "war". The enemy is usually suspected in an area served by those particular underarm nodes. Inflammation or infection - viral or bacterial - can cause lymph nodes to swell. There are several reasons these particular nodes could be swollen.
