I have a swollen lymph node in my arm pit it's causing some discomfort and is painful at times. is this serious/other symptoms i should look for?

Behavior over time: This may not be a lymph node. Other things under the arm swell and get painful. If there is clear redness, warmth, pain and discharge or a central "plug" to the lesion with a very superficial appearance this is very likely benign. If there is progressive enlargement without the signs above it is time to see a doc.

Watch and wait: You may feel the node every couple of weeks, if the lymph gland doubles in size, becomes more painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor.
