Alopecia: Testosterone is converted to dihydrotestosterone (dhp) by 5-alpha-reductase. Dhp is implicated in causing male pattern baldness. Propecia (finasteride) is indicated for the treatment of male pattern baldness because it blocks 5-alpha-reductase and reduces the levels of dhp. See your family doctor to see if this may help you.
