Number of tests: Small scraping of suspected material can be examined on a slide after application of "gram" stain, budding yeast cells will stain purple and have a budding structure.. Potassium hydroxide (koh) test uses sample placed in dilute chemical & examined on a slide, the KOH destroys not yeast cells. Bacterial type culture where sample is placted on a culture medium, +ve has a ripe apple type smell.
