A member asked:

What are some signs of depression when coping with the death of a parent?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Grief vs depression: Grief and extreme sadness are a normal reaction to the loss of a parent. Depression may also be triggered by this type of loss. I would recommend seeing a therapist to help work through the grief and determine if there is depression present independent of the grief. If there is difficulty functioning in daily life past a month it may be depression on top of the grief. Therapy helps both.
