A member asked:

Can taking dilantin for epilepsy make me infertile?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely: Risk of true infertility is rare. Risk of failure of embryo to survive is higher. Risk of fetal malformation is even greater. Dilantin is pregnancy category c, which means risks to mother of discontinuation must be balanced against risk to fetus. All anticonvulsants have at least a c rating. Some, like depakote, are x-rated.
