Depends on the test: In a typical 28-day cycle, ovulation occurs 12-16 days after a period starts (day 1). The ovulation predictor kit test will turn positive 1-2 days before ovulation, so testing should begin at least 2 days earlier (day 10). In general, start testing daily at least 16 days before your period is expected. However, at age 46, it would be best to work directly with a physician because time is short.
