See below: A hymen which is fully intact. Think of a young female who begins menstruating and there are no breaks in the hymen. There would be no way for the blood to be released.

Without an opening: Means that vagina is sealed off and any menstrual fluid is trapped. It is called hematocolpos if this occurs.
