How is alzeimers different from dementia?

One of the causes: Dementia is a syndrome that can be caused by different diseases. Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause, but progressive dementia is also caused by vascular changes in the brain, dementia with lewy bodies, and by frontotemporal dementia.
