What's done for dementia/alzheimer's?

Support, patience: Alzheimer's is only one form of dementia. Some forms are reversible, but many are not. Some forms can be treated symptomatically, some cannot. But all demented people should have caring people, protection from inadvertent self-harm, attendance at medical visits, regular exercise within their capacity, nutritious meals, safe sleeping environment, mental stimulation, socialization (not large groups).

Caregiving: Patient's with alzheimer's disease lose their ability to take care of themselves and require help of others. Support group help caregivers, medications may help to delay progression of alzheimer's disease and other dementias and control behavioral symptoms of dementia.
