A member asked:

What can you do for cramps with otc medicine?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NSAIDs...: Menstrual cramps are mediated by a substance called prostaglandin which can be modulated by a class of medicine called nonsteroid antiinflammatory drugs (nsaids) such as motrin/aleve. Taking an adequate dose at the right time (just before the period) can help minimize symptoms quite a bit. If too severe, consider birth control pilll etc.. Consult doc. Good luck.
