Multiple: Some genetic neuropathies can show seeming nerve enlargement, (not real swelling), a nerve compression such as at the elbow or associated with a ruptured disc, can cause local inflammation with secondary swelling. Neurofibromatosis can result in neuroma growths which enlarge the nerve.
