Inflammed tendon..: It is called tennis elbow because many tennis players suffer this condition due to overusing it swinging the racquet--the backhand stroke. Trauma to the area either acutely or chronically can cause this infliction which can be quite painful. Good range of motion, stretching, use of elbow-strap, avoid the "traumatic activities", motrin/aleve may help. If not better, consult doc. Good luck.

Epicondylitis: The medical term for tennis elbow is lateral epiconylitis. The extensors of the wrist all insert on a small area on the outside of the elbow known as the lateral epicondyle. Tennis elbow usually happens when the tendons become inflamed or even partially torn. It is often treated by a brace known as a counter force brace or a cortisone injection if it does not respond to lesser things. Thanks.
