A member asked:

If you have hypothyroidism as a teen (& you're short), and your doc gives you thyroid pills, can that make you grow taller?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Was growth stunted?: Prolonged hypothyroidism with very elevated TSH can cause growth slow down in actively growing children. It is unusual to present like this when a child is seen annually by a pediatrician who plots height on a growth chart. If hypothyroidism was indeed profound then growth would resume with treatment, but final height may still be compromised by accelerating bone age with rx from initial delay.
