Culture result?: Is the prescription for Clindamycin based on a culture result? Clindamycin is not your typical first line drug for uncomplicated UTI but it could be used for more complicated infections, recurrent infections if based on the sensitivity of the bacteria in culture. You should not use this drug if it is a left over from an old prescription.

See below: Clindamycin is not generally used for utis because it is not active against the bacteria that usually cause these infections. It also does not achieve high levels in the urine. A different antibiotic would almost always be better.
