Sort of...: Insulin resistance impacts the ovary's ability to ovulate which is one of the problems with pcos. Metformin decreases Insulin resistance and improves the ovarian function. Some patients will ovulate when on metformin. Nothing works better for pcos than weight loss. Clomid (clomiphene) is often more effective for pcos ovulation.

Metformin: Metformin by itself isn't as successful as when used with some other treatment for ovulation induction. Since you have regular cycles, it may be somewhat helpful by itself but isn't a treatment for infertility.
