Typical findungs: As described by a radiologist as would be seen on a chest x-ray after previous open heart surgery. Median sternotomy is surgical opening of the sternum & wires are those used to put the sternum back together again after open heart surgery.

Chest x-ray: After a sternotomy for cardiac surgery the cxr is forever altered. The sternal wires used to close the split sternum are permanent. If you have had repeat or multiple sternotomies, the wires, wire removals, replacement will also become permanent on your cxr.
