I had a cyst removed from my chest, i got stitches, why do they say not to use triple antibiotic ointment on it?

Does't matter: Use it or dont use it does't matter if you have no infection. Clean cases do not need any local antibiotics, if it is infected it is deep to skin will not be effective, only way to cure it is to drain it.

Neomycin?: I can't speak for the person who treated you but i tell my patients to use polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) (double antibiotic ointment) or Bacitracin (single antibiotic ointment) because there is about a 15% incidence of allergic reaction to the third antibiotic, neomycin. It just saves me the headache of dealing with one more problem.
