Higher than normal: Platelet count of 485 is defnintely higher than normal. A common cause of high platelet count is iron deficiency. Please discuss testing for iron deficiency with your doctor, if that is normal then it may require consultation with a hematologist.

No: There are many causes of higher than normal platelet count. Platelets are an "acute phase reactant", which simply means they go up in number whenever there is inflammation (like an infection [any type]). As mentioned, iron deficiency can cause this, but usually person is anemic also. You could get rechecked to make sure doesn't go really high (like 1000k), but i probably wouldn't.
