These very acidic drinks can soften the enamel so much that brushing immediately afterwards can remove large amounts of enamel. The more acidic a drink is, the softer the enamel can become. Coffee and tea have tannic acid which are not as acidic as citric and phosphoric acids found in fruit juices & teas.

Staining Decreased: You would also decrease the staining process of the teeth. The longer you have the tea or coffee sit on and around your teeth, the more likely your teeth will become stained and darken. A good habit if you can't brush your teeth after drinking tea, coffee, wine, soft drinks, is to rinse with water to dilute the stain causing drinks.
