Many ways: Diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruit and whole grains; low in saturated fats; caloric restriction and weight loss; increase in physical activity; and if that does not lower cholesterol to the target level, discuss the matter with your doctor for choice of medications.

Lifestyle changes &: I would try diet exercise & weight loss first. If inadequate response then medications. Smoking cessation is also a must.
