See a sports special: You should see a sports specialist or shoulder specialist. It sounds like you were referred to a traumatologist. Most shoulder injuries do not involve fracture, but still could be quite serious. Many even require surgery. A sports/shoulder specialist would clarify the injury and mechanism, examine, and x-ray, and possibly order more diagnostic studies.

Muscle tear shoulder: There are some shoulder muscles , such the rotator cuff muscles and the pectoral muscles which might require surgical repair. If one of these are injured tried another surgeon or call a physiatrist ( physical medicine doc) or a physical therapist.
