Broken hand: It sounds like you could have a hand fracture. Suggest you get it evaluated with a x-ray. The doctor can then tell you how severe the injury might be.

Yes: I am afraid so. A "boxer's fracture" is a fairly common fracture and is caused by hitting something with a closed fist.
