Niacin : This has not been borne out despite theories. Beware of sites "touting benefits". The aim-high trial was stopped early because Niacin conferred no additional when added to statins.

Beware: Many websites touting the benefits of something are also selling that product. Many claims are dubious if not outright lies. There is an inherent conflict of interest. Use caution and if possible ask your doctor for assistance.

HDL Importance Real: Hdl particle issue very real; hdl: fat scavenger particles & remove fat from cells with excess, e.g. Wbcs in plaque which may die in place ↑ing plaque if overloaded with ingested fat from LDL particles. Also Niacin (> 1 g/day) does ↑fat/cholesterol excretion into stool. But issues complex, aim-high poorly designed, wrong markers, stopped before ½ complete, funds limited for quality research, etc.
