Up to 12 hours: Depending on the type of toothpaste, the efficacy of toothpaste can last up to 12 hours. Make sure you research and make sure the toothpaste has the ada seal of approval as this is an independent seal given by the ada without bias or commercial influence.

Depends: The effect of the toothpaste will depend on how good your oral hygiene is and which method you are using , if you rinse after brushing the effect is less than if you just swish and spit without rinsing.

Until.........: That's like asking how long does soap last on your hands? While some toothpastes have ingredients that help to destroy harmful bacteria, or Fluoride to harden tooth enamel, etc., as soon as you start getting food, sugars, etc. On your teeth they can start to decalcify your enamel. Keep your teeth clean between meals and snacks and at least rinse out when you can't brush and floss.

Depends on the paste: Active ingredients like fluoride, trisoclan, potassium nitrate, xylitol, and others have different effects and lasting times. As far as fresh breath is concerned , that wears off in 20 m in.
