Is the edd based on the date you had intercourse? for example utz edd is 01.28.13 but u had intercourse on 05.01.12. why my utz gave that edd? thanks!

Different ways : The first way to calculate the due date is by knowing the date of the last menstrual period. That date is usually compared the due date calculated by your first, earliest sonogram. It is fairly easy to calculate with tho two pieces of information.
