Shingles: This is bothersome. There are many options and you really should see a pain management doctor. Nsaids, topical agents, tens, cold laser, injections, stronger pain medication if necessary may be used.

Pain: Tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline) & anticonvulsants (Neurontin or Lyrica) may be helpful. In general, try to avoid narcotics for chronic pain. Seeing a pain management specialist is a good idea.
