2-4 wks if resected: As a former wrestler i know the sport very well. He will be out of wrestling for 2 to 4 weeks if it is resected or 5 to 6 months if repaired. If resected he can start on the bike soon after surgery. Good luck.

3-4 weeks earliest: I wrestled for many years at a high level. When the swelling goes down he can start stationary bike. When the incisions are healed he can begin to practice. Unfortunately this sport requires you to be on your knees a lot and the incisions used during the surgery may be sensitive for a while. If he can tolerate the down position with his incisions healed then he will be able to practice.

Meniscal tear: If he requires a knee scope with a partial meniscectomy he may be out at least 4 weeks. If a repair is performed he may be out 4-5 months. For a small inner tear he may be able to be rehabbed without surgery and so may be out 2 weeks.
