REFLUX: Belching is generally caused by swallowing too much air. This could be from drinking carbonated beverages or stress or possibly on purpose because of indigestion and trying to relieve the indigestion. But it's possible your throat is "panging" because there is something sour--stomach acids. If stomach acids rise to the throat it would hurt. This is called gastro-esophogeal reflux.
