My mom has stage 4 emphysema . what is the normal age expectancy.?

It varies : Among people with severe emphysema about 50% are alive after four years. Emphysema life expectancy varies widely, even between people with the same pulmonary function tests and bode index scores. Even with the most severe emphysema, the odds of surviving one year are higher than 90%. Quitting smoking is the single most important treatment to improve emphysema life expectancy.

See below: http://www.uptodate.com/contents/chronic-obstructive-pulmonary-disease-copd-including-emphysema-the-basics?source=see_link. Hope it works for you. Normally a couple f years but everyone is different - your mom can do a lot better or worse than that. Good luck!
