Help docs! my mom has emphysema - will i get it too?

UNLIKELY: Unless you also smoke it is unlikely you will get emphysema.

Destruction of lung: Emphysema is destruction of lung tissue, most often due to smoking. It is manifested by an inability to breathe, wheezing, and sometimes cough. It is not a death sentence, as many people perceive. There are many effective treatments, although it is not curable. If you don't smoke, the chances of you getting emphysema are quite low, unless you are exposed to second hand smoke. So, don't smoke! :).
