About 2 weeks: The concern in your case is more about the environment than the surgery. It takes about 2 weeks for the surgical wound to heal. It would be best to keep the incision relatively clean and dry. Raw food and dirty dishes could cause an infection. Once the wound is healed up, you should be able to return to work and all other activities.

2 weeks: You have to let the wound heal and sutures out. A few more days for some of the soreness to go away. You probably won'be completely pain free but well enough to return to work for a kitchen.
