Zyprexa (olanzapine): Not good idea due to side effects of excess sedation, weight gain, tremors, other involuntary movements after long term use or upon stopping the med.

Overkill?: Zyprexa (olanzapine) is a potent medication that has some potentially serious side effects in long term use (diabetes, weight gain, among others) so i would wonder if this is really the right medication. But of course i don't know the details of other things tried, other conditions (like bipolar) that might make insomnia more worrisome, etcetera.

Zyprexa: I would not use Zyprexa for this purpose. There are too many other possible options and Zyprexa has some pretty significant potential side effects.
